Working with Rejection

Hello and welcome March!

We can all agree that this winter has been intense. We are ready to feel the warmth of longer days and to witness the budding of new life. What this has brought into my awareness is how we can be prone to reject our current reality. So, with this, I decided to travel deeper into the energy of rejection. What does this mean on a personal, as well as a collective level? We experience rejection frequently in our society. We have our own opinions about life and this causes a natural rejection of situations and people that may arise around us. When we experience rejection it natural for us to feel upset. This experience can manifest in so many ways. What I found was that there was a part of me from long ago that cannot handle rejection. In fact, this part will go to great lengths to validate herself through old coping mechanisms. This was so confronting that I almost pushed it back under the rug. Then I realized that just the fact that I was aware of this part of me AND that I could observe myself from a removed lens, meant that I had made progress.

My personal practice for March (and I invite you to join if you feel called) is to see, “What I am rejecting in my reality. What is necessary for me to reject for my benefit? Where can I have more acceptance with the way life is and release the need to control?” I believe through this practice I can identify how rejection might be causing unnecessary stress from both ways of experiencing it. Being rejected and rejecting life. There is a phrase I heard a few years ago that I feel is relevant to keep in mind when experiencing rejection. “Redirection NOT rejection.” This creates the idea that you will always have what is meant for you and your highest good. Not every person will love or like you. Not every job is meant for you. You may not attain all the things you set your heart on. With this level of acceptance, we may even be able to enjoy the weather when its not perfect (what is perfect anyway?)

May the last weeks of Winter be supportive and gift you with exactly what you need to thrive and bloom in Spring.
